He needed a change of scenery but I don't think the Cubs are a good match. Reports vary on the actually amount for the 3 years. Some have $28 million and some have $20 million.

That made me laugh out loud. I am in Champaign, IL so we are pretty much on the border between Cubs/ Cards as far as NL fans go and I am well aware of what the Cards' fans think of Marquis...

I'm sure that having his bat on the bench may add some value though...

IMO Marquis is in the same neighborhood as Lily, Meche and Eaton so if it is only $20 million for 3 years that would surprise me. He's got a live arm and an injury free past. The problem is he is stubborn and thinks he can blow it by hitters and it ends up in the stands.

Right on with the stubborn part. He doesn't listen to coaches, he has a great sinker but doesn't use it. He thinks he's the second coming of Randy Johnson when he's really just a poor man's Tim Hudson :-b

And he's not even that good. Sure, he did have 14 wins last season. But he also had 16 losses and an ERA of 6.02 8-o

He had the highest ERA in the history of baseball for a starter with enough innings to qualify for the ERA title. I don't think he's even in the same neighborhood as those guys. I think he's a mediocre pitcher with potential to be an average pitcher.[/b]
