It's Dark and Hell is Hot by DMX
The Score by Fugees
Doggystyle by Snoop Doggy Dogg
Illmatic by Nas
Me Against the World by 2Pac
All Eyez on Me by 2Pac
Cypress Hill by Cypress Hill
License to Ill by Beastie Boys
Liquid Swords by GZA
Reasonable Doubt... Vol. 1 by Jay-Z
The Infamous by Mobb Deep
Life After Death by Notorious BIG
ATLiens by OutKast

Again, that doesn't mean I don't like parts or specific songs on other albums... these ones are just more complete and easy to listen to without, say, skipping 5 consecutive tracks that should've just never been included...

Nice - I was gonna suggest ATLiens aswell. If you haven't, check out:

Soul Food or Still Standing by Goodie Mob
Beat Rhymes and Life - Tribe Called Quest

I just recently heard Lupe Fiasco's album - not bad at all.

Lupe is very talented no doubt but it gets annoying how people anoint him the next savior of hip-hop. He's good but not THAT good.

I want to hear a second release from him before I put Lupe anywhere.

That being said, his album was fantastic.

where im from, alot of people havent even heard of him, so i find him vastly underrated. went to his show at my school too, very good performance. he really seems to love his craft.

I have no doubt that he adores everything he does.

That being said, I can see him becoming either one of the great emcees or a flameout. I predict somewhere in the middle, around LL Cool J.

tough to compare him to ll...i can see him following the paths of talib, mos def, or common...hes very similar to them in that regard too..

I saw Lupe play at the Phoenix in Toronto and he was killer. He gave a great show and had a ton of energy.

I would say Food and Liquor and Hip Hop is Dead are the two best albums of the year by a decent margin with Hell Hath No Fury and possibly Donuts as the other contenders. Lupe may not be the savior of hip hop, but IMO he is the closest thing to it out right now. His body of work is incredible, go cop the mixtapes.

My albums of the year probably go in the order of:

1) Cunninlynguists - A Piece of Strange
2) Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor
3) Chino XL - Poison Pen
4) Nas - Hip Hop is Dead
5) Method Man - 4:21... The Day After

I thought it was a good album - better than most of the mainstream stuff out there now, but it doesn't come close to cracking my Top 5 for the year...just off the top my head:

Game Theory - The Roots
Fishscale - Ghostface Killah
Murray's Revenge - 9th Wonder and Murs
A Piece of Strange - Cunninlynguists
The Healing - Strange Fruit Project
