I agree that it's definately a bad deal on paper, but common its the Royals...how else are they gonna attract people to come and play there?

I don't hate but signing Gil Meche to a long term contract is the last thing I would do for that organization. Saving money while players like Gordon, Butler, Hochevar, Greinke are developing seems like a better move than blowing 55M on a pitcher who can barely stay healthy and hasn't shown that he is nothing more than an average pitcher through age 27... and I'm still laughing... hahahhahahahahhahahahahahahhaha...

Jason Marquis sure picked a bad time to have a meltdown year. He is the same age as Meche with pretty much the same or slightly better numbers.

And who would you all have pitch next season.......? Saberhagen--wheel him out of retirement?
The point I am making is that THE PITCHERS ARENT HERE. YOU HAVE TO HAVE PITCHING TO WIN!
Should the Royal not try and win next season?

Plus Marquis never had a torn labrum which usually kills pitchers. Granted Meche has bounced back better than anyone with a torn labrum but his stuff is nowhere near as good as it used to be.
