Meche Greinke Perez Hudson Redman / Elarton when he returns
I believe Redman is still a FA.
Right, the last spot will likely be held down by someone like DeLaRosa or maybe Gobble until Elarton can get back. I would think resigning Redman is out of the question now. The idea of a contract around $2-3 million over a couple of years is unrealistic considering the market.
You know, Gil Meche may not be so bad after all...Young power arm, maybe not the most durable, but at the age of 28, this could be his coming out party. The alternatives, when you look at it, aren't thjat appealing. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the Royals will win 70-73 games next year, and Meche could be one of the biggest surprises in baseball.

Gil Meche’s five-year deal with the Royals will be worth $55 million-$60 million, the Kansas City Star reports.
Incredible. Meche will lead a Kansas City rotation also set to include Odalis Perez. Brian Bannister and Luke Hudson will be the heavy favorites for the next two spots, with Jorge De La Rosa and Zack Greinke among those likely to battle it out for the remaining opening. Dec. 7 - 1:12 pm et
