LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — For those who think pitching prodigy Homer Bailey is ticketed for the Cincinnati Reds rotation at the beginning of the 2007 season, well, turn your tickets over and read the fine print.
Reds manager Jerry Narron said Tuesday at baseball's winter meetings that Bailey needs to prove he can get hitters out with more than a fastball, and his itinerary has Louisville on it to start the season.
Meanwhile, the Reds did nothing Tuesday to improve the team, refuting a report that they were about to sign Boston free-agent infielder Mark Loretta to a two-year, $6 million contract.
