I also really loved For Love of the Game. If you haven't seen it, stop reading because this will be a spoiler. At the end of the movie when the final out is made for the perfect game the whole theater cheered like we were actually at the game.
From the official rulebook of baseball: "Baseball is a game played between two teams of nine players each." Therefore, baseball is a game played only in the National League.

I was just having this discussion with my dad the other day. He said the natural, i said Field of Dreams. Major league is probably my favorite to watch, but you just can't call it the greatest.
The worst baseball movie ever has to be Summer Catch with Freddie Prince Jr. Any baseball movie where the guy leaves a Perfect game for for a chick (even if it is Jessica Biel) has to be the worst movie ever.

for WORST baseball movie of ALL-TIME no movie can touch "The Slugger's Wife" This was a total pile of flaming crap. IF you can buy Danny Noonan as a baseball player (Michael O'keefe from Caddyshack ) - EVEN MORE LUDICRIOUS - he breaks Roger Maris' record (remember this was an 80's movie) on the last day of the season - playing for the ATLANTA BRAVES!! Stupid!!

Wow. Sounds like I should go rent 8 men out and for the love of the game.
Just want to mention that everyone should see if their local rental place has Ken Burns Baseball, a documentary. It is a nine part series - each part is like 2 hours!
There are a lot of haters out there on this documentary for some errors, but as a whole it is an incredible historical presentation.
It really made me realize how much history the game has. I really learned a ton about old players I knew nothing about and some of the great games in history.
Unfortunately I also realized that anything that happened before integration probably deserves an asterisk because baseball disallowed blacks for so long. Baseball history would be turned upside down had ALL americans been allowed to play.
I really enjoyed Little Big League too. It's a little embarassing because it's aimed towards younger audiences but it really made me daydream about what if my grandfather were rich and handed me a front office job? what would it be like to really have to tell a player he's waived to his face? For being aimed towards younger audiences it had a lot of good real baseball situations.
