Postby Miami in Ohio? » Mon Dec 04, 2006 6:42 pm

I'm trying to make a Holiday Music CD for my friend. What are good songs to put on it?

Jingle Bell Rock
Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
Jingle Bells
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Last Christmas
Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland
Christmas Don't Be Late
Dreaming of a White Christmas
Baby, It's Cold Outside
Silent Night
Deck the Halls
All I Want for Christmas is You
The Little Drummer Boy
These Are a Few of my Favorite Things -- not necessarily a Christmas song, but it's the only time of year you hear it, and it gets played alongside Christmas music, so eh.

That should get you started...

I'm particularly trying to figure out the name of a real famous Christmas song that different orchestras usually sing, was parodied as a Burger King song on a web site, and has a sweet ass electric guitar version of... anyone know it??

Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmas Time

I'm not really a fan of Christmas music, but that song always gets me into the Christmas spirit.

I'm no fan of Christmas music, but I do like Twisted Sister's Christmas album even though I care little about Twisted Sister too. I think Feliz Navidad rocks for some reason, but only like the original, as the newer renditions sound extremely commercialized.

I was JUST going to recommend that one!!!! My absolute favorite 80s Christmas song. Highest recommendation.

The Eagles "Please Come Home for Christmas" is a nice 80s choice (Bon Jovi later covered it, but the Eagles version is better).

Also the Pretenders "2000 Miles" is a nice Christmas tune.

And my last 80s Christmas song suggestion: "Rock & Roll Christmas" by George Thorogood and the Destroyers.

B-)

Edit to add: I found this clip on YouTube of Squier performing this song on MTV in December of 1981 (when MTV was exactly FOUR MONTHS OLD). Check out the original VJ's in the clip. I still love you, Martha Quinn.

Another edit: George Thorogood also did an MTV version of his Christmas song. (Man, I love YouTube)
