What is going on in the front office.
We've just signed Dave Roberts for $18M/3 years and 2 draft picks
We'll be signing Rich Aurilia for ?M/2years and 2 draft picks
They offered Jason Schmidt arbitration -what if he accepts
They didn't offer Bonds - what if he leaves
We've already have a limited minor league system. Sure you can have a winning minor league system with 30 year olds.
Smart moves by Cincinnati and San Diego. Considering everyone in the world knew these guys were coming to San Francisco, why not offer arbitration and get the extra draft picks. Sounds like building for the future to me.
If we are not going to get younger. Sign Bonds and Schmidt and give it another try with our own re-treads. Let's stop feeding the league with our mistakes.
If Frandsen, Ellison, Lewis, Linden, Niekro, Valdez, Alfonzo and Sanchez are not good enough to play on this team, let's move them now to get younger or better.
We fans will be more sympathetic losing with these young guys as opposed to losing with Finley, Benitez, Alou, Greene, Sweeney, Cruz, Mohr, E. Alfonzo, AJ P, Morris, Wright, et. al.
There appears to be a pattern here.
Let the young guys play, we can wait a year or two. Besides, were in the NL West, no team is better than .500.
