what do people think of him? What type of hitter is he and what do you think he could amount to? as well as how soon will it take him to reach the majors?

It's hard to argue with the success that Tabata had in his first big league season. Not only did he handle playing in a full season league well, but he mashed along the way (420 slugging in Single-A).

He could become a No. 3 or No. 4 hitter...even for the Yankees. It's tough to make comparisons so soon, as hardly any 17-year-olds play professional ball let alone in Single-A.

Tabata is still at least a year and a half away from the majors. I think he'll be a September call-up in 2008 if everything goes according to plan.

The ceiling on this kid is very high. But he is years away and needs to devolp more. He is only 5-11, 160 so he is going to need to fill out before he will really start hitting for homerun power. He should be great. But i would not be surprised if he doesn't make the majors before September of 2009 (considering that he belongs to the yankees and his way will almost certainly be blocked by some aging veteran)
