Favorite Albums of 2006?

Postby 1337_Dude » Mon Nov 27, 2006 10:41 am

Best for me was easily Pearl Jam's self titled. Of course, it's a bit of a bias, but it was their best effort since Vs. (which is saying a lot in my mind). There were only two songs on the CD that didn't work for me (Parachutes and Wasted Reprise) and even then I can listen to those two if I'm in the right mood. Not sure what did it but they just seemed inspired and it led to something great.

Honorable Mention: Revelations by Audioslave and Wolfmother by Wolfmother (Came out in the US in 06)

I think my most disappointing album was Tool's 10,000 Days. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but after such a long wait...I just expected a bit more. I did kind of see it coming after APC put out Emotive, which was their worst album by far. I don't want to blame it on Maynard, because I know that the band as a whole put's a lot into the song writing, but when both of the bands he's in manage to put out their worst albums, I can't help but think he has something to do with it.

Dishonorable Mention: Decemberunderground by AFI

Although I find it a little to depressing for my taste at the moment 10,000 days was still a way better album then anyone has put out since Lateralus
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

I'd have to disagree, but I also didn't like 10,000 days (outside of 2-3 songs).

10,000 days was weird to me...I actually do like it the least of all the TOOL albums but still TOOL makes some incredible albums no matter what.

I didn't get to hear PJ so I can't comment and everything else I've heard on the radio stinks

Agreed Tool has put out some amazing albums with Lateralus being one of my favorite albums of all time. 10K Days just didn't do it for me, It had a lot of what felt like filler and rehashed material to me. I think I can name at least 6-7 albums that have come out since Lateralus that I would take over 10K Days.

One of my favorite hip-hop albums for this year was Rhymefest's Blue Collar.
