these guys named most of the old stuff i was gonna say, but for a newer album that isnt garbage like most of the new "hip-hop" is Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor. Its quite refreshing and one of the best album's ive heard come out in a few years. Nas's It Was Written is one of my favorite "chill" albums...

Just put on Mos Def - Black on Both Sides.
That's the last good rap CD that's been made.

Never got into the "chill" music. Mine was more party stuff. B-)
Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.
Sick of those who feel self-entitled.
Sick of those who are hypocrites.

I'll disagree with the second sentence, but you're Canadian so I'll let it slide. There have been 2 good albums released since then. But Mos Def hits the spot every time ;-D

hmm i'll just throw out some 90's hip hop i like

nas - illmatic album (the world is yours and halftime are my favorite tracks)
wu-tang clan - c.r.e.a.m., da mystery of chessboxin', and m.e.t.h.o.d. man
jay-z - d'evils, dead presidents II, bring it on
tribe called quest - midnight marauders and the low end theory albums are classics ;-D
someone mentioned mos def, his black on both sides album is good, but i would recommend checking out blackstar's self titled album, it's mos def and talib kweli and it's great
outkast - the atliens and aquemini albums are both pretty sweet (da art of story tellin' (parts 1 and 2) are two of my favorite rap songs
other specific songs include
craig mack - flava in ya ear (remix)
notorious b.i.g. - notorious thugs

if you want more, let me know
;-D

Not really old-school but definately not trash Lil Jon either, I can chill to anything Talib Kweli, especially Reflection Eternal/Train Of Thought. Little Brother's The Minstrel Show is a nice chill cd pretty much because 9th Wonder is a great "chill-beat" producer.

Nice call on those Reasonable Doubt tracks tuff_gong, I was just listening to that on my ride to work not too long ago. ;-D

Oh wow, I can't believe I forgot to mention Wu!

I like "Triumph", "C.R.E.A.M.", "Reunited", "Bells of War", and lots more. Those are my top 4 recommends from them though. 36 Chambers is a sick album but I think I like Wu-Tang Forever a little bit better.

Also, check out the GZA (Genius) album Liquid Swords. Lyrically awesome and his voice, chill and effortless.
