I don't think he will either. Lo Duca fits the #2 role from an old school mentality. Just not the way I'd do it.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

This one is a lot tougher without knowing who they are targeting and without knowing if Glavine is going to go back to Atlanta to finish out his career.
Without assuming any FA I guess this is the way it is shaping up:
O. Hernandez J. Maine O. Perez M. Pelfrey
Long shots: Pedro, V. Zambrano, Bannister, Soler, D. Williams, Vargas
That's scary in a different way than the lineup...
Assuming no trades or FA signings is terrifying. If we go into 2007 with those as our top 4, we definitely will not be favorites to repeat as NL East champs in 07...

I like Lo Duca batting second also... more so than Beltran who hit great from the 3 spot last season. His patience at the plate is what allowed Reyes to steal so many bases.
I like...
1. Reyes
2. Lo Duca
3. Beltran
4. Delgado
5. Wright
6. Alou
7. Green
8. Valentin
Now THAT is a scary lineup. I'd much rather see Reyes and LoDuca try to get on so Beltran and Delgado can drive them home... rather than Reyes and Beltran get on so Delgado and Wright/Alou can drive them home. With this lineup, you've got Wright and Alou hitting cleanup cleanup.
If you're a battery, you're either working or you're dead....

I believe this is the lineup we'll see as well, Beltran will stay batting 3rd.
