I wondered the same thing and researched it a bit. I'm pretty sure that that's just his opinion.

He probably said that because the Dodgers are one of the many teams that are in this year's Manny sweepstakes. But this year he supposedly is actually suppose to get traded because Boston is sick of "Manny being Manny" and they think he quit on the team this past year. Again, we'll see if he actually gets traded.

Not offical, but that is the hot rumor in boston and with many baseball insiders. At the moument it appears Manny is headed to LA and the Red Sox are asking for Loney as part of the package.


So yes it is my opinion and it is something i have heard.

Wouldn't Youkilis be blocking him from playing first in Boston?

If that happened, they'd probably try and move Lowell (paying some of his $) for bullpen help and move Youk back to third.

That would be my assumption. Lowell has got 1 year left on his deal, i am sure the red sox would not mind eating 2-4 million, which would make him a very nice value in this crazy market.
