It's free today because no one pays to read that garbage and they want to show people what they're "missing."
I just read through some articles, and what I'm missing is nothing but sportswriters whining. I can get plenty of that from any newspaper or an episode of Around the Horn.
Have you noticed there's more ads now too? I'm guessing they'll drop the insider fee sometime soon.

I feel sorry for your friend; how does he read that oversized monstrosity and make it through 7 page articles about Trevor Hoffman's brothers or Chad Johnson's barbecue?

...and not get burried by all the subscribtion notices
the only time i read ESPN the Mag is at the barber
...oh, and speaking of too many adds, i really, really hate how MAXIM has those 3 inch thick cardboard adds that you cant help but flip to...i immediately tear them out and toss them in the garbage
Maxim has ads? I've never noticed them.
Are you going to tell me Stuff and FHM have ads as well?
You have no frame of reference, Donny. You're like a child who walks into the middle of a movie...
