BoC Round 1 - Beetlejuice vs. Dr. Strangelove

Beetlejuice.

Kubrick is obviously a genious and Dr. Stangelove is obviously the better movie if we were handing out Academy Awards. If we're voting best movie of all time I would vote Dr. Strangelove over Beetlejuice but not for best comedy. Maybe that makes no sense but it does to me.

At least it makes sense to someone.

Dr. Strangelove is a movie that is similar to The Wedding Singer in the regards that it means much more to anyone who lived or grew up in a specific era. When my kids watch The Wedding Singer many of the references and jokes completely go over their heads because they didn't live in the 80s. I caught the tail end of the Cold War so many of the references in that movie mean more to my parents than they did to me.

Even with that, Dr. Strangelove is a funnier movie. I'm a big Michael Keaton fan, but I found Mr. Mom to be funnier than Beetlejuice.

i think i know what you mean. i like strangelove and it is funny, but for me it isnt a laugh out loud kind of comedy. i still voted for it though. not a big fan of beetlejuice.

I caught most of the movie a few weeks ago on HBO. Not only did I realize that Alec Baldwin got really fat, but it was also extremely boring. Still, it was probably Michael Keaton's best role ever.

I think Pacific Heights and Game 6 would top my list of Keaton roles.

Yeah I remember The Dream Team. Then there was his Ray Niccolet character in both Jackie Brown and Out of Sight.
