I'm glad this deal is done. Say what you will about Kaz while he was with New York, but in the purple pinstripes he was great!
.345, 2 HR, 19 RBI, 8 SB, 22 R, .392 OBP
Could he be a fluke? Sure. But I think it's worth the gamble, especially with the speed he brings to the table.
Yeah, love the deal. People hated K. Matsui because of how much he was getting paid and how little he was earning it. At 1.5 and his skills its a steal. Though with the deal it seems Barmes becomes a utility player or most likely trade bait. On another team, I really think he could still start. Barmes would be better than Guzman in Washington, maybe Bartlett in Min, and certainly better than Adams in Toronto.

this could be the greatest thing ever, this posting fee. Watching these rich spoiled rotten teams waste money is getting to be fun. I think we need more Japanese Stars to come over ..
42 Million ..LMFAO!!!
Kaz wasn't posted, he was an FA. Also, the scouting reports suggested he had a very flawed swing that made him ripe for busting, even before he actually signed. So he actually projected to being a complete bust as well. Plus, I think the NPB-MLB translation is FAR kinder on pitchers than hitters.

Not a bad deal. I was mocked in derided on this forum 3 years ago for having the temerity to suggest that he was nothing more than a .280/15/15 guy vice the .30025/50 guy that many were predicting. Turns out I was wrong - he was not even that good. But I think a change of scenery is doing him a lot of good, and the Rockies should be able to get $1.5M in value from him.
