Considering what they payed Valentin I don't think so. I think they gave him a fair amount but it doesn't make much sense to pay that amount to a bench player. I can deal with Valentin at 2B for another season, maybe with a little Hernanderson mixed in. I think a bench player who plays 2B and hits LHP well might be a possibility.

I'm cool with this news. Valentin had a decent year for the Mets, and this leaves them free to focus on the priority, namely starting pitching.

I think Valentin did a very good for us last year but I question this deal as they did pay him starter money at $3 mill/year. Valetin struggled down the stretch playing everyday and he struggled early in the season as a bench player. I hope they platoon him and Anderson Hernadez or some FA.
