its cool. i know the announcer said it was legal but i still think its illegal.
I think it's legal. The snap has to be in one motion, so if he picks it up and then hands it to him it wouldn't be, but notice how it's a direct snap, it just doesn't go through his legs.

i dont have a problem with the side snap. however, there are rules in high school covering deception/sportsmanship. from the comments on the you tube site:
"Unsportsmanlike conduct prior to snap. Actions or verbiage designed to confuse the defense into believing there is problem and a snap isn't imminent is beyond the scope of sportsmanship and is illegal."

its a judgment call. imo, its illegal.
A lot of times the team has to notify the refs before the game of play. If they get the OK from the refs, then it's good.

Ok, I was curious so I did some more research and asked a high school ref. Here's the explaination I got.
No, the play is not legal.
A similiar play from the case book.
9.9.3 SITUATION B:From a field goal formation, potential kicker A1 yells, "Where's the tee?" A2 replies, "I'll go get it" and goes legally in motion toward his team's sideline. Ball is snapped to A1 who throws a touchdown pass to A2.

It is kinda just taking advantage of the young players lack of knowledge of the game.
