This matchup is interesting in that both spawned a whole gaggle of quotable lines that were used wwaaaaayyy too much.
Seriously has Mike Myers made a movie that hasn't become horribly dated after two years?
Right now, go up to someone and quote Austin Powers to them and see what their reaction is. If you bust out "Yeah BABY!" or "Schwing!" at a party you'd probably draw stares and maybe a few heckles. Yet, some movies like Caddyshack or Holy Grail are much older, and yet are still heavily quoted in social gatherings. I think that's a good test to see if a comedy can truly be deemed a classic. If ten years later, the movie still gets quoted by people and doesn't draw groans, then it's probably a worthy classic.
