Rookie of the year?

Postby Filmguy » Thu Sep 25, 2003 12:53 pm

Why isn't Reed Johnson being seriously considered as a rookie of the year candidate? He is the ideal small ball player and has the longest hitting streak of any rookie this year? :-) Let me know what you think.

Reed has done just fine as a rookie. That's the problem. He's done fine. Nothing really that special. With Teixeira hitting 26 home runs, Matsui having 106 rbi, and Baldelli getting attention, Reed Johnson doesn't stand a chance. While he's had a nice rookie season, there are just too many others getting the attention of the voters.

I'm going with Matsui even though I don't think technically he's a "rookie". :-D Lol. :-b

That's why I'm not voting for him. I know he's not excluded, but no way someone with that many homeruns in professional ball is a rookie. :-D

well it's the jackie robinson situation: is he a rookie even though he played in the negro(japanese) leagues? the freakin award is named after him, and what are they going to do? take it back?

i may not agree, but he's a rookie.

I agree that Matsui is considered a rookie, and with that I feel he should get the award this year.

Now is he really a rookie? That can be debated for a very long time. No different than when Ichiro came over.
