10 of your favorite songs that's little heard

Postby PlayingWithFire » Fri Nov 03, 2006 1:17 am

Hey everybody. My ipod collection hits a wall at around song 900(All of them legal. At least I have to tell you that). So I've just about asked everybody I know recently about this question.

Name 10 songs that you really like that are not really popular and don't get a whole lot of radio time. Like an obscure band that has really good stuff(in your eyes) but just can't get popular. Maybe it's a song right next to a band's hit that doesn't get the deserved glory.

My genre is basically alternative, indie and a little bit of Medal. So if you have songs of other genres that are good. post them too.

Thanks ;-D

Wow, this is hard, considering I listen to mostly stuff not on the radio..

Jets to Brazil (Everything, but I'll narrow it):
Chinatown
"Your X-Ray Results Have Come Back From The Doctor And We Think We Know What The Problem Is"
I Typed For Miles

Nick Drake:
Thoughts of Mary Jane

Calexico:
All Systems Red

Cursive:
The Martyr

Damien Rice:
Blowers Daughter Part II
The Professor
Woman Like a Man
Creep (Radiohead Cover)
You have no frame of reference, Donny. You're like a child who walks into the middle of a movie...

Hmmm...interesting category. It's kind of vague as to what you're asking because for example, there's a lot of metal that naturally goes undiscovered because metal is not a mainstream musical genre by any stretch of the imagination. For example, have you ever heard of Napalm Death? Well, they're one of the better grindcore/death metal bands, but only a fraction of a general music audience is familiar with that. Shoot, even one of the pioneers of death metal naturally called Death isn't generally known, but is one of the more important bands in the course of metal history.

With that said, in no apparent order...

1. Death By Stereo - Getting It Off My Chest
2. Pissing Razors - Between Heaven and Hell
3. Dust to Dust - New Low
4. Celtic Frost - Circle of Tyrants
5. Bathory - A Fine Day to Die
6. Prong - Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck (even if Prong have a cult following)
7. Napalm Death - Puritanical Punishment Beating
8. Drain STH - Simon Says (unless you own the ECW soundtrack, you don't know this ;-))
9. Exhumed - Death Walks Behind You
10. The only non-metal song of the bunch: Swamp Candles (ECW Blue World Order theme song)

How about a genre?

My son sang a song yesterday that he made up that I don't think you'll find anywhere else. Pretty exclusive. Something about bears and toilet paper, I can't remember for sure. I'll have him record it for you if you like.
