Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

yea this show started promising. they had baseball statistic experts discussing clutch. now it seems theyve made it an award show for the most clutch players of 06. kind of lame.

'clutch' award winnners;

1B - Pujols
2B - Utley
SS - Jeter
3B - D. Wright :-P :-P :-P
C - J Mauer
SP - Johan
RP - Nathan
OF - Beltran

DH - Ill give you 1 guess. :-D

the best players at thier position = clutch on this program. except d. wright, i dont get that pick at all.

If the best player at their position = clutch, and A-Rod is the antichrist to clutch, why does the pick of Wright surprise you?

1. D. Wrights slumping second half.
2. Miguel Cabrea had a much better year.

Why is the second half clutch? The Mets had the division wrapped up...

I haven't looked at his stats, but just because Wright slumped in the second half doesn't mean he didn't hit well with RISP and 2 outs. I think that's an obviously large factor in the choosing of each player.

well i didnt realize there numbers were so close. miguels are still better but david could definetly be in the argument.

wright's close and late - .348 .433 .551
cabrea's close and late - .342 .473 .548

wright's r.i.s.p. w/ 2 outs - .358 .464 .593
cabrea's r.i.s.p. w/ 2 outs - .368 .550 .579
