Braves are going with a 3 man rotation, with Ortiz as the #1 starter, Hampton as the #2 starter, and Maddux as #3. That has to be seen as a slap in the face.
Mike Hampton - S - Atlanta Braves Sep 25
Manager Bobby Cox said he plans to start Mike Hampton ahead of Greg Maddux in the postseason rotation.
There hasn't been much separating the two pitchers this year. If the Braves are going to use a three-man rotation, Maddux would be the better option to get two starts against the heavily right-handed Astros lineup. However, if the Braves face the Cubs in the first round, Hampton and Maddux look fairly equal.
Hmm..... I'm surprised, yet not surprised. With as unpredictable as Maddux has been, it's not a surprise. With his experience and track record, that is a surprise. Interesting though.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

I understand the point but that is crazy. I was also reading it after quite a few Bud Lights so that didn't help here, either.

But is Maddux pitching Saturday? If he's the third starter, then it makes sense for him to get a regular work day in. RIght?
Yes, that would make sense about Maddux. I don't think they will overwork him, but he should get in a start before the playoffs.

Just found this from the AJC:"To get ready for the playoffs, Hampton (14-8) will pitch on Saturday in Philadelpia and Maddux (15-11) on Sunday. Ramirez (11-9) will start Friday."
The Braves web site says Hampton will only pitch a few innings Saturday, so he might not even pitch five to get the win.
