are a mirage right? He had two big SB games, and one was off of Piazza. Does he have a history of stealing? Also, he got caught stealing 5 times.
His value next year will be tremendous if he can hit like he did this year and approach 15/15 then I think he'll end up the season the 4th best C.

2005 15 steals in 129 games
2004 9 steals in 122 games
2003 8 steals in 77 games
2002 7 steals in 41 games(as a 3rd basemen)


I would say he has good speed for a catcher, but as with most catchers expect the number of steals to drop as he gets older.

50-50... One of the things that makes me unsure which way to go, is that he only stole 2 against the Padres. Before i looked I figured he just abused Piazza. While 2 SBs is a big part, even 8 SBs would be great from a Catcher.

I wouldn't count on Martin to save you in SBs, but a few bags from your catcher is always welcome. I don't think him reaching 8-10 SBs is an impossible task as long as he is allowed to run by the Dodgers. Age is not an issue for this guy and seeing that he did run a bit in the minors I think he can keep it up in 07.

He stole 3 bags against 2 different teams. Looks like he just got lucky. IMO, his knees will start to give out as he plays a full 162 game schedule.

Maybe, but doubtful. If he's going to do it, he'll have to improve his baserunning and not get caught 1/3 of the time and do it in the next few seasons before catching starts to sap his speed. He's got very good speed for a catcher, but he's no Craig Biggio or even Jason Kendall in that department.
