Twins go with Santana in Game 1 of playoffs

September 24, 2003
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Johan Santana will start Game 1 of Minnesota's first round playoff series Tuesday, followed by Brad Radke and Kyle Lohse.

The rest of the rotation hasn't been decided yet, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Wednesday. The Twins could go back to Santana and Radke for Games 4 and 5, but Kenny Rogers and Eric Milton are also available.

The three were a combined 25-5 since the All-Star break entering Wednesday night's game. Santana began the season in the bullpen, joining the rotation just before the break.

The Twins, who won their second straight AL Central title, will probably face the New York Yankees in a best-of-five series.

Gardenhire said he'll keep 10 pitchers on the postseason roster and 15 position players, but he hasn't announced who they'll be yet.

Thought I'd pass that along. ;-)

Yes doctor, there will be a war.

Now he's the game one starter? Why in the world did it take them so long to put him in the rotation? Well, I wish him luck.

I remember when we were all begging for the Twins to make him a starter. :-D The patience paid off on him. :-)
