I believe they can, but they may just want it to all be over with. What are they going to get out of her anyway, other than some feeling of false retribution(sp?)?

Wednesday, defense sources told CNN the defense plans to pursue civil suits against Nifong no matter what decision was announced.
Nifong will be tried by the bar in June and could be disbarred if he's found guilty, AP reported.
Yup.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
The best thing coming from this inevitable outcome is the specific language the new DA used. He explicitly called the Duke kids innocent. This will be big in their pursuit of civil charges against Nifong.

Exactly, markedly different than "not guilty."
I do hope that this leads to some reflection on shield laws and the way the media treats this. It's simply unfair that these guys got plastered everywhere, and basically considered guilty. How many stories about race and privilege were there after this?
I mean shield laws have their place, but when you out and out lie (rather than have a court case disagree with your assessment), you should be punished too. It's not fair to women, and it's not fair to men.

unfortunately the accuser and nifong arent likely to have much money. i bet they have one ugly looking legal bill.
It's virtually impossible to sue a prosecutor. Which kinda makes sense since you don't want everyone falsely accused being able to sue the pants off the government, but at the same time I bet that would make them take their jobs a little more seriously than it appears Nifong did in this case.

I want to know when he and Sharpton and the rest of them are going to issue public apologies and lead parades through the streets of Durham with signs saying "we all rushed to judgment and we apologize".
