I hvae to write an essay for school and i am going to talk about how the changes that have been made to baseball and what the players have do for themselves over the years affects the stats they are putting up now as opposed to the ones guys like ruth, and ect made.

Expansion of teams
Rising salaries

Also - 100 years ago, many fans gambled openly in the stands, wagering on such minutia as the next pitch or the outcome of the next ball in play. Today, we have a version of that called "fantasy baseball."
