I think so after Julio's bday in August. A Paige-somebody (don't remember who) matchup added up to 92 yrs between them back in the 60's.

Aw, but Satchel doesn't count. He could face a rookie and still shatter the record. :D

I guess he's worth 5 mill

Pedro only gives you 5 IP but he k's 10 people.

So for the money I think its worth it

That's an ERA of 5.4... That's pretty terrible I'd say.

And Pedro's not giving anyone 5 IP for a long time.

Well his ERA is 4.3 so what I'm trying to say is he will give you at minimum 5 ip 3ers..

Through in alot of 7 IP 3 ers and a few 3 Ip 7 ers. it all balances out to his current ERA.

Basically he is a guy you can depend on to keep you in the game unlike some multi million dollar pitchers: Randy Johnson, Pedro

No way they unload Burrell unless they pick up some of the contract. And after the Thome deal I don't think they want to do that again.

everything I have read says Pat the Bat is as good as gone.

"heavily motivated to move Pat" was what I read ..

From a Met fan perspective...not fazed by this move at all. Moyers got to be running out of gas soon.

He throws about 75 MPH so I don't think they should worry about him running out of gas... :-D

Man, this is a real shame. I'd heard that the Cubs were interested in him. Guess they'll be missing out now.

I might be of the minority here, but I think this was actually a pretty good signing. Moyer is already at age 43, and still pitching above league average. Who's to say he won't be pitching like this at age 44 and age 45? I mean it's not like you can really foresee any kind of collapse for him. If he was going to collapse, I think he would have done it already. Moyer's been pretty dependable over the last few years, and I doubt that will really change. 5.5 million may also seem like a lot, but that's a bargain for this pitching market. I may be somewhat biased (as I credit a lot of the 2 Jays' WS victories to Gillick) and I find myself usually defending what he does, but this seriously wasn't that a bad move at all by Gillick to sign Moyer here.

Wouldn't you if your LF can't play a lick of defense with a sub .900 OPS and making 27M in the next two years?

But doesn't Burrell have a no-trade clause? :-?
