With his "stuff" (if you can call it that ;-)

) he could, in reality, pitch until he's 50. I'd rather get Moyer at $5M a year than Pavano at $10M a year, no doubt about that. I really don't see this as a terrible deal.

Did they really have to give him two years though? Seems like he would have signed a one year deal + incentives with a team option or two.

I don't think it is a horrible deal, but I don't think it's a real good one either. :-?

he would have tested free agency if they just offered him a one year deal. maybe they still could have gotten him with one and an option but the phils elected not to take the chance of him talking to other teams. besides, a little pine tar and he might end up being worth twice what he is getting. ;-)
