Start Hudson today?

Postby ramble2 » Wed Sep 24, 2003 2:10 pm

Look, normally this wouldn't be a question worth raising. Always start your aces, and Huddy certainly qualifies. But this is a weird week. The A's clinched the AL West last night. That means that more than a few drinks probably went around the clubhouse last night. Today's game starts at 12:05 PST, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say that some of the fellas may not be 100% today.

So, do you start Hudson today? The day after the A's clinch the AL West?

I think I am going to sit him in my H2H playoffs. I have a comfortable, though not insurmountable, lead in ERA and WHIP, am winning Wins 8-6, and am up by one in Ks. I also have Beckett going later today.

If you need (or can afford) to take a risk, then I say go with Hudson. If you are playing conservatively to preserve a lead, then sit Huddy. If you threw either Miller or Webb this week, then throwing Hudson today is probably a good idea.

Good luck everyone!

Should be interesting. The Mariners are still playing to win and they know they have to win them all to have any shot. I'm sure the A's did have a few after clinching last night and might not be 100%.

Good observation, and I hope it works out for you. ;-D

Needless to say, I'm shocked that Arod is not in the lineup 8-o . He's played over 500 consecutive games 8-o . I wonder if he will pinch hit to keep the streak alive? :-?

Not a bad outing by Hudson:

7 innings, 5 hits, 1 bb, 1 er, 5 k's.

Not bad at all. ;-)

Ok, the announcers were talking about the streak and said that both Arod and Showalter agreed to end the streak now, that way it won't be an issue in the media next season. Arod's consecutive game streak ends at 546 games, and his 1st day off since joining the Rangers. :-/
