Phils looking to move Pat

pat is the king of the hollow number. I don't feel like poring over the numbers, but it always seems to me that he is listless and gets empty hits etc.

his contract is a huge detriment. that guy needs to go to a huge payroll team and be a role player. Fact is, he is comforable, and doesn't want to leave.

Other fact is, this team needs a third baseman, and some protection for howard. Final fact is, ownership treats the phils as if they were small-market.

I'm hoping ofr aramis ramirez, but that looks highly unlikely with pinella coming to chi town.

you give the phils someone like aramis, then you have howard, utley, rollins, aramis, and that is nasty. then solid guys like delluci and rowand, hamels, myers, lieber ... and you may have a little something something.

At any rate, that team needs to move the walls back. It won;t affect howard, but it will affect what arms they can bring in.

I know he has some holes in his game, but I'll take an .890 OPS on my team any day of the week. He had a down year in the average department (.258), but had an OBP much much higher (.388). I can dig that.

That would be diesel. Imagine him in a lineup with Derek, Aramis, Alfonso and Alex. 8-o

Phillies eyeing Sheffield, Soriano

PhillyBurbs.com: "Topping their wish list are two big names likely headed for free agency: New York Yankees right fielder/first baseman Gary Sheffield and Washington Nationals left fielder Alfonso Soriano... If the Yanks decline Sheffield's option, the Phils' biggest competition likely will be Atlanta."

Yeah well give us one decent prospect and we will take that 13M option and trade his sorry rear to that team.
