Was tonight his last start of the regular season? Also, who are some other big name pitchers/hitters that you would drop because they will not start again or be benched?
I think he starts Sunday, so don't drop him. Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone. The Giants do have an off day Thursday and might rest him up for the first game of the playoffs.
I'm considering dropping Bonds, but that may be a unique situation to me, as I'm so far back in homeruns and need steals.
I would venture to say that Schmidt won't pitch again until the playoffs. Not 100% sure of that though.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
"Jason Schmidt will make his final start of the season on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Manager Felipe Alou has confirmed that Schmidt will start the first game of the postseason for the Giants. Instead of having Schmidt pitch on normal rest and then letting him maybe make a brief appearance late next week, the Giants will have him work on extra rest in both his final start of the regular season and in his first postseason start."
CBS:
"Jason Schmidt was tabbed as the Giants starter for their playoff opener, which means Tuesday or Wednesday at Houston will be his last regular season start."
I suppose it's conceivable that he could start again if home field were on the line. But I'd bet my house that Alou will play this just like he said.

I would drop him.

As if you have never jumped into a thread and asked "should I trade for him". I've seen you do it plenty of times. Sit back and relax.

Schmidt is slated to start Game 1 of the playoffs. He can't pitch Sunday and Tuesday. So he has pitched his last game of the season. I dropped him and picked up Wilson Alvarez, hoping to get in another quality start before the season ends.
Thanks for everything, Jason! You and Halladay were my studs!
