I got a Toshiba 32" LCD TV a month ago for like $1100 after tax. I love it. It's 720p, which I kinda regret getting, but to me personally, I think the picture is awesome, so I'm not mad.
I can't wait for the HD movie technology battle to play out so I can go out and get a HD DVD player or BR player.
I really liked the LCD TVs. I know the bulb will burn out, but how long does it take to usually burn out?
I would wait til XMAS or after XMAS to buy one though. I keep reading that they expect prices for HDTVs to drop significantly. Especially since 1080p is becoming more common a lot of the 720p and 1080i TVs will be cheaper.
You have no frame of reference, Donny. You're like a child who walks into the middle of a movie...

i think they are around 50,000-80,000 hours or something like that. that should last around 10 years or so with heavy viewing. bulbs are replaceable any way and in 10 years or whatever probably wont be that expensive.

Yeah, that's why we didn't go LCD. We don't watch a lot of TV, but it's usually on in the house for background noise. We went the DLP route.

I found out from a television hardware board that it's only like $100 for the bulb if you know where to get it (they told me where to get it). If I watch TV for 12 hours a day (don't come close) that would be in 11 years. I don't think that is enough to deter someone from buying one. Also, in 10 years I'll probably be getting a Super HDTV.
I went to Best Buy today to check out the DLPs, and I just couldn't get into them. You have to sit at the perfect angle to enjoy it and the contrast just doesn't look that good to me. I dunno.

Really? Maybe the salesman was trying to clear out the DLPs or something then.
