Which hall of fame pitcher’s career nearly came to an end during his first season of pro-ball? This pitcher was struck in the temple by a throw while running the bases. He lay unconscious for 36 to 56 hours before awaking with double vision. The double vision eventually cleared, he made the majors, and eventually pitched his way into the hall of fame.
"I do not think baseball of today is any better than it was 30 years ago... I still think Radbourne is the greatest of the pitchers." John Sullivan 1914-Old athletes never change.

Grover Cleveland Alexander. Also the only player named after a sitting US president.
