Can Carpenter now go Game 1?

josh beckett, randy johnson, curt schilling. there's lots of examples of pitchers going on 3 days rest. i think the best bet would be giving carp a shot at going games 1-4-7, but i have no idea how carpenters feeling.

i dont think carp's ever gone on short rest but i guess there is a first time for everyone. while some have done it successfully there are also some disasterous examples. from 1998 to 2002 pitchers going on short rest in the playoffs had an aggregate era of 6.75 and a collective record of 3-13. also, having carp go two games last series and potentially three this season could leave him worn out and relatively ineffective should the cardinals advance. i'd be more inclined to take such a gamble in the world series.
