Projections for Rocco Baldelli...

Postby elltrain22 » Sat Oct 07, 2006 12:18 am

We all saw the kind of potential this guy had, especially the last 2 months of the season. Over the course of 162 games, whattyathink he's gonna do?? My projections for him are as follows:

AVG. .310 HR 25 RBI 103 Runs 105 SB's 27

Looks very reasonable, but the RBI's I really doubt. He was very solid in the leadoff spot. And now that Crawford has found a home hitting 3rd I don't if they'll mess with that too much. I'd look for Baldelli to end up close to 80 RBI's if he stays in the leadoff spot.

I have to man up here and apologize, I never thought Baldelli would have much value fantasy wise once he returned, and I was adamant about that here posting. Looks like he has more power potential than I anticipated and is not afraid to hit the ball with runners on base. With that lineup next season, he could be a solid #2 OF.

My projections for him, were low-ball figures. His RBI total may seem high considering he is a lead-off hitter, but if he continues to show that pop in his bat, ya know Maddon will move him to 2 or 3 in the order.

You do realize that nobody in baseball this past year produced those type of numbers? Nobody had 25 homers and 25 steals with 100+ RBIs and 100+ runs scored.

And you think you low balled him with those numbers. 8-o

Let's put this into perspective. Maggs was fine until his 30th birthday, not really missing significant time.

Baldelli has missed about a year and a half when he was 23. I am still worried about Baldelli's health and would not count on him to be one of my major players until he can prove that he can stay healthy.

I love the guy but theres no way those are lowball predictions.
I'd say.
.300 Avg 105 Runs 23 HRs 85 RBIs 25 SBs

nothing to sneeze at by any means but safer than your predictions

Ya gotta take in to account that he is my fav' player, so, to me, the sky's the limit. Am I be a little unrealistic, maybe so, but Baldelli, we all can agree, has the talent & the ability to put up eyepopping numbers. First off, I am not worried about his health. He had some issues when he 1st got back, but that was Maddon being extra careful. As we all saw, when he finally got to 100% in August & September, we all saw the real deal Baldelli. I whole-heartedly think he can over .300, possibly 310-320 range. His homerun total next year should be around 20-25, but could be 30+ hr's. (He did 10 in the month of September). RBI's are a question mark. If he hits leadoff, could be around 85-90, but if he slides to the #2 or 3 hole (which if he shows good power is enevitable), then his RBI total could be 100+. He should score over 100 runs easy, and his sb's should be over 20, but could be in the 30's. Am I superfan being super dilusional, am I smokin some strong gonga', or am I making some sense. Final point I will make are his numbers the last 2 months of the year.

AB's/Hits AVG. HR RBI SB Runs

186/60 .323 11 28 7 32

if we take these numbers and take in to account a full season here is what we get...

AB's/Hits AVG. HR RBI SB Runs

600/194 .323 36 91 23 104

also, 600 ab's is taking into account he plays about 145-150 games...
