Marquis over Reyes. I think I am going to be sick.
And can anyone explain to me what Taguchi does better than Schumaker?!?!?

taguchi has a career avg of .379 against the padres and hits .526 at petco. he has good numbers in a few at bats against peavy, linebrink, williamson, woody, and david wells. unfortunately skip hasnt hit well at all or he should be there instead of gooch since skip is the better defender.
i wonder if TLR wanted a righty to even things out a little. skip would have made it 4 lefty/2 righty OFs. the team seems to struggle a little against lefty SPs.
The numbers against the Pads are nice but I don't see Taguchi as a pinch hitter. I would guess his role is a late innings defensive replacement and pinch runner. 2 things which I think Shumaker does better.
Plus, I don't want TLR to get any ideas of starting Taguchi against Wells like he has been doing when the team faces a LHP.
Probably won't bat cleanup, but he's in the lineup, La Russa said.
Also, Preston Wilson will be in LF for Game 2.
Cardinals had a workout today and pretty much everyone was there. It was an optional workout, so they didn't have to be there. Edmonds talked to La Russa and got permission to take the day off to visit his daughters in Orange County.
