J.J. Putz?

I am in a 14 team league and want to keep Putz. What do you guys think of him as a keeper with k/9?? Was his number for real?

I think J.J is for real and he would be a pretty good keeper especially with one of your categories being K/9. I probably see a 2.00 ERA, 75 innings, 105 k's, 36 saves.

Way too hard to say if he is a keeper or not without knowing how many keepers each team gets, and without seeing which roster he is on.

i got 4 solid keepers but then im not sure what to do.

But the question was kind of in general to see what his numbers will be like for 07. So what do u think his numbers will be?

I honestly think he will be the biggest closer bust of 2007 and end up out of the job during the 1st half of the season. If it can happen/almost happen to Lidge (who unquestionably has better tools) it can happen to just about anybody. What do I have to base my opinion on? Nothing but a hunch based on observations on his composure on the mound. He has great numbers this year, no doubt. He has decent mid 90's stuff (which is average amongst closers) and decent secondary pitches. But this is his 1st year exclusively closing (once Eddie left) and hitters haven't figured him out yet in the 9th. I think that they will and his ERA and numbers will suffer. At the very least, don't expect a repeat performance of this year. I think he makes a great trade candidate if you'd want to make a deal because I think 2006 was his career year.
