The Marlins are expected to fire manager Joe Giardi on Tuesday morning. They will immediately turn their attention to hiring Fredi Gonzalez, the Braves' third base coach, as their new manager.

I don't think that's a bad thing for Girardi. He might be able to cash in with only 1 season under his belt. He took a marlins team of rookies and nobodies to playoff contention. I think he'll be receiving calls 30 seconds after he's officially fired.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I really don't want to lose another coach.... And if we were to lose one, why not Pendleton? He hasn't really impressed me that much....

Isn't obvious that the Cubs will be calling the Chicago native and former player two seconds after the firing tomorrow?
Also, what a complete idiot this Florida owner is. Just b/c Girardi told him to shut up when he was screaming at an ump and hurting the team's chances to win a game, he's going to fire the soon to be NL Manager of the Year and a guy who's got a great future managing in the majors. Way to run a pro franchise you a$$

there's got to be more to the story than just that one instance, right?
