So, I have a new guy that I can't stand. His name is Stephen A. Smith. Don't call him Steve, or even Stephen, it has to be Stephen A. Smith. Gag me.
So ESPN, in a tradition of suckiness, give this guy his own show because he's both "liked" and "hated." Yeah, he makes me want to puke, and that was just from seeing the promos for his show where he does a little dance.
So, I decide to see what the commotion was about, watch his show and then make an unbiased decision.
So his show is a "sports" talk show, but I'm not so sure if Smith knows anything about ANY sport other than college basketball. The show I caught featured Bobby Knight as the guest... here we go.
The interview was so nauseatingly typical and dumb that I couldn't believe it. Smith simultaneously kissed Knight's ass AND ask the same, cliched Bobby Knight type questions over and over, occassionally throwing in a tidbit of information just to prove that Smith actually knows something about sports.
Then, Smith starts questioning Bobby Knight about how he was quoted criticizing ESPN. Knight stated that 9 out of 10 basketball highlights were dunks, and that he'd like to see more of the "key" plays in basketball, like defensive moves and great passes.
So Smith argues that those things don't "sell."
Blah, here's the good part. Knight says that there is one highlight reel on ESPN that is great... Web Gems. He explained that Web Gems were great by showing key defensive plays and something other than home runs that makes baseball great.
Smith had a blank look on his face.
"You never heard of Web Gems?" said Knight
"Uh" said Smith
"You're kidding me?"
"Hey man, ESPN's got me working long hours man, I don't know, I can't keep up with everything," Said Smith
So then, here's the best part, Knight says to him "Listen, this is just from an older guy to a younger guy, but, if someone ever asks you if you've seen something on ESPN before, and you haven't... I'd lie."
So my point is Stephen A. Smith is a know-nothing ass-clown. How can he have a "sports" talk show when he doesn't know about anything other than basketball? The rest of his interview was weak and annoying anyway, but seriously, never heard of Web Gems? Web Gems has been around since long before he became a sports writer, which is a joke in itself.
However those guys who made the video need to get a life. They are just trying to feel important by trying to bother a (very very very very minor) celeb.
