Colon vs. Yanks?

Postby Madison » Mon Sep 22, 2003 12:29 am

Very tight era race:

3.622
3.641 (me)
3.646

Would you start Colon at home vs. the Yankees? Also Colon only has 3 k's in his last 15 innings. I really can't afford that either due to the k race being very close as well. Innings are at a premium right now and Colon usually eats them up. Obviously, I'd like to have him start if he's going to do well, but I can't afford for him to get lit up or decide not to k anyone.

Any opinions or predictions? Please. :-)

Well i wasnt going to start him next week. But the guy im playin in the championship game has 5 two start pitchers almost forcing me to start my two game starters. Colon being one of them(Still sitting sorry ole Suppan). I've noticed that when i need Colon to do good he sucks. When im getting a royal beat down already for the week...he pitches great which does me no good. So pretty much im expecting him to suck again this week facing they Yanks and Royals.. but i dont have any better opitions. If i didnt have to start him i wouldnt because he's been so up and down its not even funny anymore. It'll be one of those times when u start him.. he'll get bombed on you. And if you bench him.. he'll throw a CG SO with 12k's. God i hate Colon sometimes. Hope this helps lol :-D

I would go with him. He always pitchers far enough into games that giving up a few runs doesn't hurt. I predict his line will be something like:

8 IP, 3 ER, 9 Ks

That's a line I could live with. A whip under 1.25 wouldn't hurt either. :-D Looks like this will probably be a game time decision for me.

I just have a BAD feeling about Colon tonight. The WSox are dead in the race and their pitchers have been giving up a ton of runs lately. I think I would bench him and save my innings for a better matchup.

I'm going to bench him. I also have Soriano/Giambi/Posada in that same league, so if I start him, I get the short end either way it goes. I benched him, so now I'm going to root for the Yanks to do well. Maybe I'll get lucky and actually make the right choice for one of my teams this time. :-o

Leadoff home run for Soriano. It's still early though.

Soriano is killing me!!! He has six homeruns in the championship, and I have 10 amongst all my players. ARRRGH.

And, I would have benched him too.
I'm back. Sorta.

Colon's line so far:

3 innings, 6 hits, 2 er, 5 k's.

The k's would have been nice, but not at that price for whip/era.

Not over yet though.

Hey Transmo, make it 2 home runs for Soriano.
