We'll see but Oakland or Detroit could easily be that team.
Has anyone seen the yankee lineup, 220 mill can do wonders,
if the yankees dont win the world series its a joke, lineups insane , best closer & good pitching
i hate the yankees more than anyone on the planet, but they are HUGE favorites
The lineup is impressive but isn't basically the same one they had in the playoffs last year?
With the addition of Abreu. I still am not impressed with their pitching.

And Damon. But whose pitching does impress you? Seems like a weak crop of playoff teams this year.
About Pedro...sucks. Mets are still probably the favorites at this point because their lineup is so good, but the NL is so unpredictable now, it's ridiculous. It'll be exciting (probably ugly as well) to watch, though.

And some will still keep ripping the Red Sox for not giving him a four-year deal. The Mets realized going in that they'd be lucky to get three good seasons out of Pedro. It's been known for years that he's pitched with a damaged labrum, and now that his rotator cuff is also shredded, it's likely to be very difficult for him to return to ace form. The Mets may let him spend the first half of next year rehabbing and then bring him back after the All-Star break. The need to add Barry Zito or another top starter just got a whole lot bigger. Looks like Theo made the right decision in not resigning him...

this is why the redsox wouldn't give him 4 years...
It does look to be a great decision by the Sox. But as a Mets fan, if Pedro doesn't pitch another game in a Mets uni I still won't regret the signing. Pedro's effect on this organization has been worth it.
Anyway, rotator cuff rehab is pretty unpredictable. SNY is reporting 8 months minimum rehab but I think the Mets have to go into this (and for fantasy baseball) like Pedro will be out all of next season.
It will be interesting to see how they approach the off-season now. Far less flexibility. Hopefully Humber and Pelfrey can both step up. With Pedro gone and Trax and some others it's not far-fetched that both will be in the rotation right out of the gates.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I hope the surgery goes well
I couldn't agree more. I've been blessed to have watched some dominant pitchers, all the way back to and including Gibson. Other than the fact that a those pitchers were workhorses, (up to the 80's at least) Pedro takes a backseat to none of them
