Don't have to make the decision right this second, but at this point, which three players should I keep, with weight towards players likely to either make an impact in 2007 or have good trade value at some point later in the year
Evan Longoria
Troy Tulowitski
Cameron Maybin
Phillip Humber
Luke Hochevar
Nicholas Adenhart

I suppose one of them is obvious.
Tough to pick just 3 out of that group...Maybin is a no doubter even though he might not make a impact next year. Tulowitzki is going to have a very nice year at SS I think. The third pick is between Humber and Longoria. In fantasy baseball you usually want to go with bat, but I will say Humber just because he has a chance to be special.
I thought Tulowitski was the obvious one. Opening day SS. Plus, my league does OBP and not AVG., making Tulowitski's value slightly higher.
The others are open for debate. I may choose one slot just on "buzz." If BA lists either Maybin or Longoria in the top 5, I'm guessing it might get the attention of my league-mates. Maybe the other slot for a pitcher that will produce next year. I'll probably pay attention to what happens in the fall league and in spring training. You're probably right that Humber's got a bit of an edge so far.
I would definitely keep the 3 hitters. They're all elite prospects. It's questionable whether any of the 3 pitchers are. I like Adenhart the best and he's the farthest away. And all 3 hitters may be in the bigs by sometime in 2008. Tulo should make the team out of ST next year, Longoria may be a September callup and Maybin may make it by mid-2008.
Looks like it's the hitters, though I'll keep my eye on spring training to see if any of the pitchers sneak into opening day rosters.
Also, found out I'm allowed to take a major league keeper slot and use it on a minor leaguer. Also looked closer and Pat Neshek is under 50 IP, meaning I can keep him as a minor league keeper. In my league that counts holds equal to saves, and penalizes losses, I'm thinking of keeping Neshek too.
