I am quite surprised that Swisher is striking out as much as he is as well, he had great dicipline in the minors. I see good things as a third outfielder (or 2nd if your pitching and infield is really loaded) but no more. Call me crazy but 30 HRs + 100 RBIs ain't what it used to be, we guys with those numbers that NEVER get talked about here.

I think you have to take a closer look at his minor league numbers. I can't remember him not have a lot of strikeouts relative to the amount of at bats he had. It is true that he has always shown the ability to take some walks though. 30hr 100rbi is still a great plateau to reach because there really aren't that many players that hit that.

I am not a swisher fan at all but I think you summed it up well in your original post, his numbers were all over the place which marks him as a very high risk player. I'd draft him for slightly lower than this years numbers and let someone else take the risk of him breaking out or crashing. Let him build a track record before you worry about drafting him.

I agree that Swisher is just a lesser version of Dunn. They are pretty much the same hitter except Dunn has more power.

It's sort of funny how everyone thinks Swisher is a lesser player than Dunn yet Swisher ended up with better numbers... Oh well.
