What do they do if 2 teams are tied and both have a playoff spot. Do they still play a 1 game tiebreaker?

Nope, goes on H2H record. I believe playoffs are only for if only one can make the postseason.

Thanks. Looks like the Tigers have the H2H lead, so the Twins need to make up 2 games to take the division.

That is correct.
TomS. '12 H2H season standings: Team 1 = 140 - 118 - 12 , 4 OF 12 Team 2 = 84 - 97 - 9 , 6 OF 8

If the Tigers and Twins end the season and have the same record then there is a one game playoff on Monday Oct. 2nd. Minnesota won the coin flip already, therefore, the game will be played at the metrodome.

I think it is head to head record, that's how the Yankees won the division over my Red Sox last year...

The answer is in there somewhere. In the case of the Tigers and Twins, it will be h2h record.
NOTES: • If two clubs from the same division are tied but both assured of participating in the postseason, then the first tie-breaker would be their 2006 season-series to determine which club is the division champion and which club is the Wild Card. • If three clubs finish the season with the same winning percentage and one team will be a division winner and another will be the Wild Card, the games will be played as follows: » The two teams tied for the division lead will play the one-game tie-breaker, with the winner being declared the division champion. » The losing team will then play the club from the other division for the Wild Card.

Umm, while it will feel like the Twins are playing themselves, they will be hosting the ChiSox.
