I was just gonna post that. I also like him because his name reminds me of a smack dealer.
I think I've heard that name on COPS like 100 times.

I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

Ron Luciano.
On calling a pitch from Rich Gossage:
"Ball...Sounds low."

I like McClelland as well. He's a laid back, cool professional who seems to control the game very well. You hardly ever see anyone in his face; I assume he is thought of very highly by the players.
Funniest to watch walk-Larry Young. Very bowlegged, looks like he just got off his horse.
Funniest voice-Jim Joyce. Sounds like he should lose his voice by the 3rd inning every game he does the plate.
WORST umps of all time
1) Ken Kaiser-just a flat out lazy umpire that never should have made it to the bigs, let alone last as long as he did. Always dogged it when he was doing the bases. I've never seen an umpire out of position as often as he was.
1A) Richie Garcia-flat out brutal. The Jeffrey Maier blown call was just the icing on the cake of a horrible career.
I'm certainly not an expert but I have done a fair amount of umpiring over my life. I enjoy watching the way the ML umps work together. I often find myself watching them perform as much as the players.
That's why baseball is the BEST sport in the world.

So much hate for poor Jeffery Maier. I wonder if the rolls were reversed and a kid in Camden Yards was involved in a HR by an Oriole whether the voices of outrage would be so loud? Somehow I think not.
Umps blow calls all the time. They usually get it right but every now and then they are going to screw it up. Them's the breaks and only losers complain about the umps costing a series in when they lose 4 games to 1 anyway.
Now you want to talk about bad umping, who was it during an NL playoff game that had a strike zone about 3 feet wide and was calling strikes on balls that went over the batter's box line?
