Big mistake by Yahoo. Very uncool.

In K. Roger's last outing vs. KC, Yahoo had him registered as having a Complete Game (9IP). CG is a stat in my league.

Today they took it away because they screwed up.

Maroth pitched the 9th. :-t

And, no, the "Yahoo is free" line doesn't cut it when you pay for stattracker and other services.

What problem did it cause?

Having a (very rare) CG changed my strategy for pitching. The CG stat can be a huge anchor on the pitching side of things, and if you're winning you pitch much more conservatively. I thought I was ahead when I was behind. It's finals in the playoffs.

What, you thought they'd let the incorrect complete game stand? :-b

So you're saying Yahoo made a "big mistake" by... correcting a mistake?

Did any of the guys you sat in order to be "conservative" pitch complete games that you missed out on?

If not, I'm really having trouble seeing what your issue is.

I'm guessing, it's not a category-based but points league. Therefore, the CG would have given him a ton of points, so by not starting anyone who was remotely likely to get shelled, he managed more conservatively. Had he known he was behind, he'd have gambled and thrown out more starters to try to bridge the gap, as he'd have nothing to lose as he was behind anyway.

The "big mistake" was recording it fasely as a CG. This changed dude's strategy. They correct their error, but now his plan is irrevocably altered, and his results will likely be inferior to what they would have been had he kept with his normal strategy.

It's a travesty I tell you!

Yes, exactly. I'm surprised to see no one else caught on.

The bugger is that they couldn't keep track of pitching changes. Baseball's a slow game. Pitcher leaves, pitcher arrives. Lets get it right.
