Having a (very rare) CG changed my strategy for pitching. The CG stat can be a huge anchor on the pitching side of things, and if you're winning you pitch much more conservatively. I thought I was ahead when I was behind. It's finals in the playoffs.
I'm guessing, it's not a category-based but points league. Therefore, the CG would have given him a ton of points, so by not starting anyone who was remotely likely to get shelled, he managed more conservatively. Had he known he was behind, he'd have gambled and thrown out more starters to try to bridge the gap, as he'd have nothing to lose as he was behind anyway.

The "big mistake" was recording it fasely as a CG. This changed dude's strategy. They correct their error, but now his plan is irrevocably altered, and his results will likely be inferior to what they would have been had he kept with his normal strategy.
It's a travesty I tell you!
