That's one of the most ridiculous things I've read in a long time, and I read all of wrveres' posts.

You've seen crazier things in baseball than a team coming from 8.5 games behind to win a division with only a week and a half left?

If this actually happens, it has to go down as one of the biggest collapses in major league history.

I didn't recognize it was 8.5 in that short time span -- Off the top of my head, I remembered it being at about 5.5.

It would definitely be crazy, considering they aren't playing the Cards head-to-head every game and need to help themselves while getting help from other teams.

What, What, What is going on? Carpenter failed tonight, and the Cards are only 1 1/2 up... But they aren't going to lose it all, are they...
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

Watching a house of cards (pun not intended) fall apart is not particularly thrilling.

It's mildly entertaining if you're not the guy that has to pick them all up again. :-D
