When was Garza envisioned to be an ace?

When he was making his quick ascent through the minors during June and July, there were some scouts and many within the Twins organization that felt he could be a rotation anchor and a frontline starter for many years to come. After he threw a CG 127 pitch shutout with the last pitch recorded at 97 MPH, many thought he could develop into that ace. The expectations have been tempered a bit now.

I still think he has the stuff to be. If you've seen him pitch then the only thing holding him back is refining his secondary stuff. All his secondary stuff looks good when he is on but he just needs to get control of it all better. Like I said above, probably won't put it all together this comming year but I'm guessing good things in '08.

I think he's a middle of the rotation guy but should settle in and be a fine #2 or #3 pitcher someday.

Maybe I'm a little bitter, though, since I added him then promptly dropped him for Slowey in a keeper league and then he jumped into the majors and was a contributor...

w/ liriano out for 07, looks like Garza is a safe bet for a rotation spot - - - if there was any doubt.

I personally think Garza will be a great #3 on a good team. I think anything beyond that is unrealistic.
