When is Garza going to "WOW" me?

I'm sort of underwhelmed by Garza thus far...am I asking for too much?

I don't think Garza really has the potential to anchor a staff (see my sig), but I think he will become a good No. 2 starter.

I wouldn't get caught up in all the rookie pitchers who have outperformed Garza - this year has been abnormal in that regard. Be patient with the 6-foot-4, 190-pound flamethrower and you'll be rewarded.

Garza has potential, you just have to give him some time. Not all Triple-A pitching studs start like Jered Weaver. If he relaxes (see Rich Hill) He should be a quality number 3 for Minnesota as soon as next year.

For a guy who started out in A ball this year and is now pitching in a tight division title race, I think he's been pretty good. I look forward to seeing what he can do next year right out of the gate with a fresh start on the major league team.

I think he'll be very soloid next year w/ his occasional VERY GOOD games and bad ones....but I'm looking forward to it

I wrote a little something on him in the leftovers forum a few weeks ago. He definately has ace potential but he will struggle for a while until he learns how to throw his secondary pitches more consistantly and more often. Until then he is just a fastball thrower who occasionally mixes in a curve, slider, change. He just doesn't throw them consistanly enough and often enough to be dominate just yet. Give him time, possibly next year but more likely in '08.

Too many people see the slight few who start off really hot and expect every young pitcher with promise to do the same, it just doesn't happen that way!

It's kind of foolish to read too much into 50 innings from a guy who was in A ball six months ago.

His stuff and work habits make him a top of the rotation type of guy. I would say next year he settles in the 4th spot of the rotation and pitches much better than he showed at the end of this year. I agree with the fact that he may not be the ace that he was once envisioned to be, but I think he makes for a very good starting pitcher for a long time.
